There has been a drastic increase in the deployment and use of electronic devices with digital transformation of schools having taken centerstage.
While the pandemic witnessed widespread adoption of tablets, laptops, webcams and headphones both by teachers and students alike, the surge in demand has eased in the past 24 months following a return to school policy.
However, analysts are predicting an increase in demand, mainly from schools and educational institutions, as technology has emerged as a pivot to new teaching and learning mechanisms.
According to recent statistics by International Data Corporation (IDC), although global shipments in 2023 will be much lower compared to 2019 levels, 2024 will be a year of recovery, where PC (personal computer) and tablet shipments are expected to grow by 3.6% compared to 2023 and surpass pre-pandemic levels. Global shipments of PCs and tablets are expected to increase to 417.7 million units in 2024, and as per IDC it will be driven by commercial demand both from businesses and schools.
