GEMS Metropole School Motor City gets new principal 

Edward Staton previously served as Vice Principal of Academics at GEMS Metropole School Motor City for two years

With more than two decades of experience in educational leadership in the UK and the UAE, Edward Staton steps into the principal role 

Dubai, August 4, 2026: GEMS Education has promoted Edward Staton to Principal of GEMS Metropole School Motor City (MTS), effective August 2026. Staton succeeds outgoing Principal and CEO Nav Iqbal, bringing more than two decades of senior educational leadership experience across the UK and the UAE to the position. 

Staton previously served as Vice Principal of Academics at MTS for two years. His background spans primary, secondary and all-through school contexts, with a focus on curriculum development, staff mentoring and school turnaround strategies. 

“My philosophy is founded on a simple belief: every child deserves an exceptional education that unlocks their future,” Staton said, emphasising inclusive and ambitious educational standards for the school’s upcoming chapter. 

In his new role, Staton will oversee the next phase of development for the British curriculum school, focusing on academic performance, holistic student development and institutional growth.
