Future Education Summit Qatar concludes

Doha, Feb 23, 2024: The inaugural Future Education Summit Qatar, in collaboration with the Qatar Ministry of Education and Higher Education concluded on February 20, 2024. The summit held at the Grand Hyatt Hotel in Doha, provided an invaluable platform for educators, policymakers and innovators to strategise on the future of education, in alignment with Qatar National Vision 2030. 

With more than 400 attendees, including speakers and leaders from Qatar’s leading educational institutions, the summit garnered attention.  Sheikha Hessa bint Hamad Al-Thani, a distinguished member of the Al Thani Qatari royal family and the Dean of the College of Education at Qatar University, graced the event alongside representatives from the Qatari government and the Ministry of Education.  Dr. Khalid Abdulla Al-Ali, Consultant at the Office of the Minister of Education and Higher Education Qatar noted in his speech that the summit resonated with the Qatar National Vision (QNV) 2030, emphasising education’s transformative power in driving innovation and economic diversification. Speakers such as Edward Lawless, Executive Director – Academic Development, Pre- University Education, Qatar Foundation and Dr. Abdulla Almansoori from the Qatar Career Development Center explained the imperative to equip the youth with future-ready skills and foster adaptability for an evolving world. 

In his speech titled ‘Preparing Qatar’s Future Generation and Human Capital for Future Careers in line with QNV 2030’, Dr Almansoori highlighted the important role Qatar Career Development Center plays in achieving the QNV 2023 and reiterated the organisation’s commitment towards facilitating this transition to the future, creating pathways that ensure Qatar’s future generations are equipped with the skills, knowledge and mindset needed to thrive in an ever-evolving world.  

Keynote presentations by industry experts such as Dr Mohamed Elhindi, CIO, HBKU and Max Renault, Director Innovation, Weill Cornell Medicine explored topics ranging from digital disruption to the role of technology in higher education innovation.  

Jeff Kersting from The American School of Doha, drawing from his 16-year experience in educational technology, shared insights and examples on how to leverage educational technology to enhance learning experiences. Kersting emphasised the importance of leveraging educational technology to enhance learning experiences, underscoring the summit’s commitment to preparing students for the future. 

The event was supported by government and private educational institutions such as Qatar Foundation, Hamad Bin Khalifa University, Qatar University, Nord Anglia International School Al Khor, Lusail University, Weill Cornell Medicine, American School of Doha, Aspire Academy, HEC Paris in Qatar, ACS International School, Doha, The Hamilton International School, Qatar Academy Doha, Georgetown University in Qatar, GEMS Education and University of Doha for Science and Technology.
