IT hardware shifts from support role to strategy

Dubai, Sept 3, 2026: From AI-ready networks to biometric logins, school IT hardware is being planned less around individual devices and more around the systems that connect them, even as hardware itself keeps ageing faster than budgets allow. 

“The biggest shift is from IT infrastructure as a support function to technology as part of the learning experience,” says Aliasgar Dohadwala, Chief Executive Officer of Visiontech Systems International LLC, an IT systems and infrastructure integrator. 

Austin Paul Antony, Chief Managing Director of EEST Computer Systems Services LLC, an IT infrastructure and systems provider, says schools are moving fast. “Today, schools are building more connected, intelligent and secure digital environments that support artificial intelligence, cloud-based learning, collaboration, data analytics and smart campus technologies,” he says. 

Tolga Özdil, Regional Commercial Director for the Middle East, Turkey and Africa at ASUS points to the rapid advancements in device capabilities and says, “Devices are also becoming more advanced as schools try to find reliable and lightweight AI PCs that will be able to perform all sorts of tasks from video collaboration tools to creative applications.”
