The Abu Dhabi Department of Education and Knowledge (ADEK) has launched the Onboarding and Readiness Accelerator, transforming its pre-departure framework into a multi-year support model for scholarship students studying abroad 

Abu Dhabi, Jul 20, 2026: The Abu Dhabi Department of Education and Knowledge (ADEK) has launched a new programme that aims to prepare Abu Dhabi scholarship students going to study abroad to confidently represent the UAE. 

The Onboarding and Readiness Accelerator Programme for the 2026 scholarship cohort aims to transform the authority’s traditional Pre-Departure Programme into an end-to-end readiness model designed to support students prior to departure, during international study and through post-graduation career integration. 

Aligned with regional education priorities around student well-being, national identity and future workforce development, the initiative was developed in collaboration with 19 government and industry partners, international embassies and specialist alumni networks. 

The programme operates across four core pillars: national identity and global citizenship, personal well-being, safety awareness and essential life skills. Curriculum delivery focuses on developing practical competencies, including financial literacy, self-management, critical decision-making and cross-cultural adaptability. 

Preparation begins with two weeks of intensive in-person training in Abu Dhabi prior to departure. Through interactive workshops, mentorship and practical simulations, students are equipped to navigate independent living and academic transitions abroad. Dedicated family engagement sessions are also integrated into the framework to maintain continuous family support throughout the academic journey. 

To ensure long-term retention and success beyond the first year of study, the accelerator provides ongoing advisory support at key academic milestones. Students receive access to internship placements across a network of more than 200 industry partners, alongside tailored post-graduation career support to align international degrees with strategic growth sectors in Abu Dhabi.
