UAE announces how public, private schools may calculate Term-2 grades

Private schools in the UAE can set an appropriate method to assess students for Term 2 grades, while students in government schools will be evaluated on the basis of ongoing assessments, projects and assignments completed during the semester

This follows Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research’s decision to bring forward spring break for all schools and universities

Dubai, Mar 4, 2026: The UAE’s Ministry of Education (MoE) has announced that Term-2 grades for students in government schools will be decided based on ongoing assessments, projects and assignments completed during the semester.

The ministry has said that each private school will set an appropriate method to complete the semester and assess students according to approved academic policies. Schools need to inform students and parents about the chosen evaluation method, the authority said.

This announcement follows Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research decision to bring forward spring break for all schools and universities.

Authorities confirmed that spring break will now run from March 9-22, 2026. The decision applies to all government and private schools, as well as universities, covering students, teaching staff and administrative personnel.
