UAE schools switch to online classes

The temporary shift to remote education in UAE schools will begin on May 5, 2026 and continue until May 8, 2026, with a possible extension

The country has announced distance learning for all schools from May 5-8, 2026, with a possible extension, amid renewed regional tensions  

Dubai, May 4, 2026: The UAE Ministry of Education has announced the implementation of distance learning across all educational institutions nationwide, covering students, teachers and administrative staff. 

The temporary shift to remote education will begin on May 5, 2026, and continue until May 8, 2026, with a review scheduled at the end of the period. The decision applies to nurseries as well as all public and private schools across the country. 

In a statement, the Ministry of Education said the move is being implemented to ensure the safety and well-being of the entire educational community. 

The ministry added that the situation will be reviewed on Friday, May 8, and the period may be extended if necessary.
