Grade 12 student performance in the national exams remains on par with last year
Manama, Oct 25, 2024: Student performance in the Grade 12 national exams remained consistent with last year, says the 2023-2024 report on the performance of Bahrain’s education and training sector. The exams saw participation from 12,499 students from both public and private schools.
Similarly, the Grade 9 exams, which involved 13,214 students from public schools, showed notable progress in key areas, particularly in language comprehension skills in Arabic and English, as well as understanding of core scientific concepts, says the report.
The report offers an in-depth analysis of how the sector is performing, highlighting effective practices in educational institutions, identifies areas that need improvement and provides recommendations to enhance overall quality.
Dr. Mariam Hassan Al-Sayed Mustafa, CEO of the Education and Training Quality Authority (BQA) noted that the insights provided are crucial for driving continuous improvement in the sector, encouraging institutions to maintain their strengths and address areas requiring development to raise the standards of education and training across the Kingdom.
The report covered reviews of 21 public schools, six private schools and six vocational training institutions, alongside evaluations of 37 academic programmes in higher education. It also included updates from the National Qualifications Framework, with 12 new institutional entries, 31 national qualifications classified and 46 foreign qualifications recognised.
The report also showed a 34% increase in vocational institutions included in the framework and a 29% rise in higher education qualifications classified under the National Qualifications Framework.
