KHDA allows Dubai private schools to extend the learning day

Schools to decide in consultation with parents

Dubai, Dec 22, 2021: The Knowledge and Human Development Authority (KHDA) has confirmed that private schools in Dubai can extend the learning day to make up to the four-and-a-half day working week from the new year, starting January 3, 2022.

Schools can start the day early or finish later. However, schools must first consult with students’ parents. All schools are also required to inform KHDA, the emirate’s private education regulator, of their updated working hours.

The new working days for public and private schools will be from Monday to Thursday while Friday will be a half day where schools cannot finish later than 12 pm. Saturday and Sunday will be the weekend. The decision applies to students and staff at private schools.
