Dr. Adil Alzarooni: Building a future-relevant education experience

The curriculum of most schools worldwide is designed to create employees and occasionally produce entrepreneurs, says Dr. Adil Alzarooni,  Founder of Citizens School and CEO of Al Zarooni Emirates Investments, as he discusses the vision for his school and investment opportunities in education in the GCC 

Dr. Adil Alzarooni is a man of several talents. From starting a laundry business in his ‘20s with his own savings to authoring books on entrepreneurship and starting a visionary K-12 inclusive school to holding various leadership positions within UAE government entities, he wears several hats. 

He is the Founder of Citizens School and CEO of Al Zarooni Emirates Investments. He has more than two decades of experience in executive management, investments, sales, logistics, IT security and economic zone development. Committed to lifelong learning, Dr. Alzarooni has served in various leadership positions within UAE government entities as well as family-owned businesses.  

He has bolstered his portfolio with directorship positions in diverse sectors including healthcare, education, financial services, logistics, media, technology, food and beverage, fast moving consumer goods (FMCG) and real estate. Currently he operates two family offices.  

In September 2022, he launched a K-12, inclusive and non-selective school named Citizens, in Dubai. The school focuses on reimagining education and individualised learning that is structured around each child’s unique strengths.
