De-stress your way out of Distress

De-stress your way out of distress

Every profession has its share of mental stress and health issues. Teachers face the pressures of wearing many hats at a time and it can get one down. Prevention, as always, is the best cure and a little bit of self-therapy can do wonders to lower your stress.

  1. Schedule some downtime, a little healthy ‘me time’. Use it to listen to music, read a book, pray or meditate, even perhaps to do a little gardening in the fresh air.
  2. Get organized. Keep a schedule.
  3. Work smarter not harder. Invest in technology and tech tools.
  4. Don’t be too serious. Assign tasks and fun play-learning projects.
  5. Practice breathing exercises. A little yoga goes a long way.
  6. Stay hydrated, eat simple and healthy food.
  7. Remember to be easy on yourself and not take other opinions too seriously
  8. Develop relationships. Check in with a community of peers in the teaching profession.
